Winding device and printing apparatus

A printing apparatus comprising:

• a conveyance section configured to perform intermittent conveyance for a medium for repeating one conveyance and stop;
• a printing section configured to perform printing on the medium in a state in which the medium is stopped;
• a winding section configured to wind the medium for which the intermittent conveyance is performed;
• a tension bar configured to apply tension to the medium wound by the winding section;
• a detection section configured to detect a position of the tension bar;
• a driving section configured to drive the winding section;
• and
• a control section configured to control the driving section, wherein
• the control section is capable of carrying out driving speed adjustment for adjusting driving speed of the driving section based on the position of the tension bar detected by the detection section and, while the intermittent conveyance for the medium is performed, in a state in which the tension bar applies the tension to the medium, continuously drives the driving section at the driving speed adjusted based on the position of the tension bar.
