Inkjet recording apparatus

An inkjet recording apparatus comprising:

• a recording head having an ink ejection surface from which ink is ejected;
• an ink collection tray disposed at a position facing the ink ejection surface during recovery operation for the recording head, the ink collection tray being able to store liquid containing the ink falling from the recording head;
• and
• a detection portion that detects a liquid surface of the liquid stored in the ink collection tray exceeding a predetermined detection height,
• wherein
• the detection portion has:
• a detection depressed portion that extends downward from an upper surface of the ink collection tray;
• a sensor portion provided at a position below the detection height in the detection depressed portion, the sensor portion detecting contact thereof with the liquid flowing into the detection depressed portion;
• and
• a first wall portion that is formed to surround the detection depressed portion, the first wall portion preventing the liquid from entering the detection depressed portion from the ink collection tray, and
• the first wall portion has an inlet formed at the detection height to allow the liquid to flow from the ink collection tray to the detection depressed portion.
