A riblet structure for a surface for the purpose of reducing a friction resistance with respect to a fluid flowing in a main direction along the surface and use of and a method for producing such a riblet structure. The riblet structure includes a plurality of, in particular wedge-shaped, longitudinal ribs which protrude from a base surface, are oriented in the main direction, and are spaced apart from one another. To obtain a low friction resistance, it is provided that, respectively between two adjacent longitudinal ribs, the base surface includes depressions which are spaced apart from one another in the main direction, which depressions are spaced apart in a direction orthogonal to the main direction at least in sections, preferably completely, from at least one or both of the longitudinal ribs.
