Abstract
A reinforced panel and a method of manufacture. The reinforced panel comprises a substrate and a polymeric material. The substrate comprises a first side and a second side. The polymeric material extends from at least the second side of the substrate. The substrate comprises a perimeter. The perimeter protrudes past the polymeric material.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- positioning a substrate on a first mold of a mold tool, the mold tool comprising:
- the first mold, the first mold comprising a first mold side and a first cavity extending from the first mold side;
- and
- a second mold, the second mold comprising a second mold side and a second cavity extending from the second mold side, wherein the first cavity and the second cavity cooperate to define a mold cavity when the mold tool is closed;
- closing the mold tool by engaging the first mold and the second mold, wherein a perimeter of the substrate extends out of the mold cavity and is pinched between the first mold and the second mold when the mold tool is closed;
- injecting a polymeric material into the mold cavity and against at least one side of the substrate;
- and
- curing the polymeric material to form a reinforced panel.

- a substrate comprising a first side and a second side opposite the first side;
- and
- a polyurethane material extending from at least the second side of the substrate, wherein the substrate comprises a perimeter that protrudes past the polyurethane material.
