Abstract
A method for forming an overmolded component may include providing a substrate, an overmold cavity, and one or more agitators capable of inducing vibration at or within the overmold cavity, wherein the overmold cavity is at least partially defined by the substrate. Material may then be provided to form an overmolded layer in the overmold cavity and the one or more agitators may be activated to induce vibration in the material.
Claims26
A method for forming an overmolded component, comprising:
- providing a substrate, an overmold cavity, and one or more agitators capable of inducing vibration at or within the overmold cavity, wherein the overmold cavity is at least partially defined by the substrate;
- providing material to form an overmolded layer into the overmold cavity;
- and
- activating the one or more agitators to induce vibration in the material.
A method for forming an overmolded component, comprising:
- providing a substrate, an overmold cavity, and one or more agitators capable of inducing vibration at or within the overmold cavity, wherein the overmold cavity is at least partially defined by the substrate and the one or more agitators includes one or more of a mechanical vibrator, an ultrasonic transducer, and a piezoelectric actuator;
- providing material to form an overmolded layer into the overmold cavity;
- and
- activating the one or more agitators to induce vibration in the material.
A system for overmolding a component comprising:
- a first mold part and a second mold part arranged to receive a substrate;
- an overmold cavity defined at least partially by one or both of the first mold part and the second mold part;
- an injection passage in fluid communication with the overmold cavity;
- a mix head configured to provide material into the injection passage;
- and
- one or more agitators capable of inducing vibration at or within the overmold cavity, wherein the overmold cavity is at least partially defined by the substrate and the one or more agitators includes one or more of a mechanical vibrator, an ultrasonic transducer, and a piezoelectric actuator.
