Abstract
An automotive air filter assembly includes a base, a primary filter attached to the base, an end cap attached opposite the base, and a hydrocarbon trap comprising hydrocarbon trap media positioned in the primary filter or within an internal volume of the primary filter. The hydrocarbon trap media may comprise activated carbon and is positioned to contact backflow gas from an engine and adsorb hydrocarbon vapors during backflow conditions, including after engine shut-off. In some embodiments, the primary filter includes a first primary filter section and a second primary filter section separated by a connector ring.
