Abstract
The present invention describes a method for filtering particulate systems. The dewatering of particulate solids according to the present invention is carried out using ultrafine bubbles injected into the filtration feed line, to reduce or eliminate the need to use additive filtration reagents (coagulants, flocculants and/or surfactants), with benefits in terms of increasing filtration speed (cake permeability) and reducing residual cake moisture.
Claims15
A method for filtering particulate systems with nanobubble injection, comprising:
- generating nanobubbles (NBs) through hydrodynamic cavitation techniques, after depressurizing the supersaturated liquid stream in compressed gas at saturation pressure between 1 and 15 bar;
- promoting slurry conditioning/particle suspension in the presence of nanobubble dispersion (NBs) in the filtration feed line or auxiliary tanks;
- and
- performing dewatering on slurry/particle suspension in filtration equipment using positive pressure, negative pressure (vacuum) or both,
- wherein the nanobubbles (NBs) have an approximate diameter of less than 1 μm, and
- wherein the method obtains fluid dispersions with a concentration of NBs between about 1×106 NBs·mL−1 and about 1×1012 NBs·mL−1.
