Abstract
A water filter priming pump including a filter cavity with a downward facing opening and a filter connection positioned within the filter cavity. The housing includes a mounting feature positioned to support the housing on a container of water whereby the filter cavity opening is located below a surface of the water. A suction pump having an inlet and an outlet is contained in the housing, wherein the inlet is in fluid communication with the filter connection.
Claims20
A water filter priming pump, comprising:
- a housing including:
- a filter cavity with a downward facing opening;
- a filter connection positioned within the filter cavity;
- and
- a mounting feature positioned to support the housing on a container of water whereby the filter cavity opening is located below a surface of the water;
- and
- a suction pump having an inlet and an outlet contained in the housing, wherein the inlet is in fluid communication with the filter connection.
A method for priming a water filter, comprising:
- supporting a filter to be primed in a container of water, wherein an upper end portion of the filter is not submerged in the water;
- enclosing the upper end portion of the filter between a cover and a surface of the water;
- connecting the filter to a suction pump;
- operating the suction pump to pull water through the filter;
- and
- discharging the water pulled through the filter into the container.
