Abstract
A fire detection and suppression system operates in independent autonomous modes or under human command. Optical, thermal and laser based sensors detect fire conditions. Anemometers and thermometers detect environmental conditions, allowing the system to adjust the flow of fluid from the system to the targeted flame or condition. Algorithmic analysis of the input data in connection with such preselected thresholds permits rapid detection of fire conditions and in automatic modes triggers a suppression response. A feedback loop enhances adjusts for dynamic flame and environmental conditions.
Claims26
A process for detecting and suppressing a fire condition utilizing a fire detection and suppression system, the process comprising the steps of:
- generating and transmitting a control signal from a control subsystem to at least one fire detection subsystem having a fire detection motor to cause at least one of horizontal and vertical displacement of at least a portion of said fire detection subsystem in a scanning mode;
- obtaining data indicative of detected environmental parameters from said at least one fire detection subsystem sensor selected from thermal, optical, distance and wind sensors;
- comparing said data indicative of detected environmental parameters with system operational data stored in an electronic memory associated with said control subsystem;
- generating and transmitting a suppression signal from said control subsystem to at least one fire suppression subsystem having a fire suppression motor and a fire suppression fluid delivery nozzle, upon detection of a fire condition based upon said data comparison;
- delivering at least one fire suppression fluid at a target location through said fire suppression fluid delivery nozzle, said target location determined by said data comparison upon reception of said suppression signal by said fire suppression subsystem, the source of said fire suppression fluid being selected from at least one of fluid inputs and storage tanks;
- receiving additional data indicative of detected environmental parameters;
- receiving monitoring status data from a monitoring and management subsystem having at least one fluid sensor to detect at least one of presence, absence and flow parameters of said at least one fire suppression liquid;
- generating additional suppression signals from said control subsystem to at least one of:
- said fire suppression subsystem, said fire suppression motor and said valve to cause at least one of
- additional horizontal and vertical displacement of said fire suppression fluid delivery nozzle;
- and
- changes to flow parameters of said fire suppression fluid based upon changes in said detected environmental parameters;
- and
- terminating flow of said fire suppression fluid upon cessation of fire condition.
The system of claim 31, wherein said distance sensor is at least one of a laser and LiDAR.
