Abstract
Various methods and systems are provided for anesthesia systems which may include a cartridge pump assembly including a cartridge containing a liquid anesthetic and a pump adapted to pressurize the liquid anesthetic through a pressure line and a reservoir. An injector may deliver the liquid anesthetic into a heater assembly. The system further includes a liquid flow valve configured to fluidly couple and decouple the cartridge and the injector.
Claims20
A cartridge pressurized anesthesia system, comprising:
- a cartridge pump assembly including a cartridge containing a liquid anesthetic configured to mechanically couple to a pump;
- a pressure line fluidly coupled to the cartridge, wherein the pressure line is configured to hold pressurized liquid anesthetic from the cartridge;
- a heater assembly fluidly coupled to the pressure line via an injector, wherein the injector disperses liquid anesthetic from the pressure line to the heater assembly;
- and
- a liquid flow valve configured to fluidly couple and decouple the cartridge and the injector.
A method for operating a cartridge pressurized anesthesia system, comprising:
- receiving mixed gas from an expiratory line of a ventilator into the cartridge pressurized anesthesia system;
- combining the mixed gas with an anesthetic agent vaporized via a heater assembly of the cartridge pressurized anesthesia system to produce fresh gas;
- flowing the fresh gas into an inspiratory line of the ventilator to deliver the vaporized anesthetic agent to a patient;
- and
- replacing a cartridge of the cartridge pressurized anesthesia system while delivering the vaporized anesthetic agent to the patient.
A cartridge pressurized anesthesia system, comprising:
- a heater assembly including a gas inlet and a gas outlet, wherein the gas inlet is configured to fluidly couple to an expiratory line of a ventilator and the gas outlet is configured to fluidly couple to an inspiratory line of the ventilator;
- a cartridge pump assembly including a cartridge containing a liquid anesthetic agent, wherein the cartridge is mechanically coupled to a pump;
- a pressure line fluidly coupling the cartridge to the heater assembly via an injector;
- and
- a carbon dioxide removal system positioned between the expiratory line and the gas inlet.
