Abstract
Described herein is a respiratory therapy system comprising: a primary power supply, a secondary power supply, and a breathing apparatus configured to provide respiratory therapy. The breathing apparatus comprises a controller. There is a connection between the primary power supply and the breathing apparatus configured to facilitate transmission of power and data between the primary power supply and the breathing apparatus. The controller is configured to monitor a parameter of the primary power supply, and disengage the primary power supply if the parameter differs from a parameter threshold. The controller is configured to engage the secondary power supply on disconnection of the primary power supply such that the breathing apparatus can continue operation without interruption.

A respiratory therapy system comprising:
- a breathing apparatus configured to provide respiratory therapy;
- a peripheral computing device;
- and
- a connector coupling the breathing apparatus to the peripheral computing device, wherein the connector is configured to:
- supply power between the peripheral computing device and the breathing apparatus,
- transmit data between the peripheral computing device and the breathing apparatus, and
- wherein each direction of supply of power is independently controllable, and
- wherein each direction of transmission of data is independently controllable.
A respiratory therapy system comprising:
- a breathing apparatus configured to provide respiratory therapy;
- a primary power supply;
- a peripheral computing device;
- a first connection between the breathing apparatus and the primary power supply;
- and
- a second connection between the primary power supply and the peripheral computing device,
- wherein the first connection is configured to facilitate bi-directional supply of power and transmission of data between the breathing apparatus and the primary power supply, and
- wherein the second connection is configured to facilitate bi-directional supply of power and transmission of data between the primary power supply and the peripheral computing device.
A method of operating a respiratory therapy system, the method comprising:
- coupling a breathing apparatus to a peripheral computing device with a connector;
- transmitting data from the breathing apparatus to the peripheral computing device;
- transmitting data from the peripheral computing device to the breathing apparatus;
- supplying power from the peripheral computing device to the breathing apparatus;
- and
- supplying power from the breathing apparatus to the peripheral computing device,
- wherein each direction of transmission of data is independently controllable, and wherein each direction of supply of power is independently controllable.
