Abstract
Exemplary embodiments provide methods, apparatuses, and supporting structures for deploying a deployable element (such as a cannula or subcutaneous sensor) into a user's tissue (such as through skin tissue). Front-end electronics may be provided on a support structure and may move while the deployable element is deployed. A flexible connector can connect the front-end electronics to back-end electronics (e.g., a main processor circuit of an associated body-worn device).
Claims20
An apparatus comprising:
- a deployable element configured to be deployed subcutaneously;
- a deployable element support attached to the deployable element;
- an insertion mechanism secured to the deployable element support and configured to move the deployable element support to cause the deployable element to deploy;
- front-end electronics provided on the deployable element support and electrically connected to the deployable element, the front-end electronics configured to move with the deployable element support;
- back-end electronics spaced apart from the deployable element support;
- and
- a flexible connector having a first end electrically connected to the front-end electronics and movable with the deployable element support, and a second end electrically connected to the back-end electronics.
A flexible connector configured to electronically connect a first electronic structure to a second electronic structure, the first electronic structure provided on a deployable element support configured to perform at least one of rotation or translation to deliver a deployable element into a skin of a user, the flexible connector comprising:
- a flexible end connected to the first electronic structure;
- and
- a second end connected to the second electronic structure.
