Abstract
According to an aspect, a method includes forming an antimicrobial compound and forming a hydrogel that includes the antimicrobial compound. In implementations, the hydrogel is a cross-linked polyacrylamide-based hydrogel. In some implementations, the antimicrobial compound includes quaternary ammonium. In some implementations, the antimicrobial compound includes a zwitterion-based quaternary ammonium.

A method, comprising:
- forming an antimicrobial compound;
- and
- forming a hydrogel that includes the antimicrobial compound.
A composition, comprising:
- a crosslinked polyacrylamide-based hydrogel, the hydrogel including an antimicrobial compound.
