Described are methods for treating cancer an effective amount of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) disposed in a liposome.
Claims23
A method of treating cancer, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) formulated in a liposome, wherein the liposome comprises an inner liposome aqueous phase comprising ATRA and an aqueous solution of calcium acetate having a pH of 7 to about 10,
- wherein lipid components of the liposome comprise hydrogenated soybean phosphatidylcholine (HSPC), cholesterol (CHOL), and distearoylphosphatidylethanolamine-polyethylene glycol 2000 (DSPE-PEG2000), and
- wherein at least a portion of the ATRA present in the inner liposome aqueous phase is crystalline.
