Abstract
The present invention relates to an oral composition of ciclopirox or a derivate thereof which do not exhibit gastrointestinal toxicity and comprises a therapeutically effective amount of ciclopirox, tocopherol and alginate or their derivates.
Claims20
A method for the treatment and/or prevention in a subject of a disease known to be treatable and/or preventable by ciclopirox or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate or prodrug thereof, said method comprising the administration to said subject of an oral pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- a therapeutically effective amount of ciclopirox or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate or prodrug thereof;
- tocopherol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, ester or ether thereof;
- and
- alginate or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, ester or ether thereof.
A method for decreasing or avoiding the gastrointestinal toxicity in a patient receiving or likely to receive oral ciclopirox therapy comprising replacing that therapy for the administration of an oral pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- a therapeutically effective amount of ciclopirox or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate or prodrug thereof;
- tocopherol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, ester or ether thereof;
- and
- alginate or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, ester or ether thereof.
