Abstract
Described are slide-resisting pads and methods of use thereof for positioning a patient on a surgical table for a surgical procedure on a hip of the patient to resist sliding of the patient during hip distraction, the slide-resisting pad comprising a cutout shaped to match a cutout of a table extender of the surgical table.
Claims20
A slide-resisting pad configured for positioning on a surgical table beneath a patient to resist sliding of the patient during hip distraction, the slide-resisting pad comprising a cutout shaped to match a cutout of a table extender of the surgical table.
A surgical table system, comprising:
- a surgical table onto which a patient is placed for a surgical procedure, the surgical table comprising a table extender configured for supporting hips of a patient during hip distraction, and the table extender comprising a cutout for accommodating a removable perineal post;
- and
- a slide-resisting pad configured for positioning on the surgical table between the patient and the surgical table, the slide-resisting pad comprising a cutout shaped to match the cutout of the table extender.
A method for positioning a patient on a surgical table for a surgical procedure on a hip of the patient, comprising:
- positioning a slide-resisting pad on a surgical table, the slide-resisting pad comprising a cutout shaped to match a cutout of a table extender of the surgical table;
- positioning the patient on the slide-resisting pad such that hips of the patient are disposed on the slide-resisting pad and supported by the table extender;
- and
- distracting at least one of the hips of the patient, wherein the slide-resisting pad resists patient sliding during the distraction.
