Abstract
The disclosure provides incision dressings having a liquid permeable center section; a pair of lateral absorbent sections abutting the center section on each side of the center section; and a wound contact material adhered to lowermost surfaces of the center section and the lateral absorbent sections.
Claims13
A dressing configured to transport fluids away from a wound, the dressing consisting essentially of:
- a liquid permeable center section having first and second opposite sides and a thickness;
- a first discrete lateral absorbent section having a first thickness and terminating at and abutting the first opposite side of the center section and configured to absorb and contain fluids;
- a second discrete lateral absorbent section having a second thickness and terminating at and abutting the second opposite side of the center section and configured to absorb and contain fluids;
- and
- a wound contact material adhered to lowermost surfaces of the center section and the lateral absorbent sections, the wound contact material having a non-adherent lower surface for contacting a wound;
- wherein the first thickness and the second thickness are each less than the thickness of the center section, and when the dressing is in use on a wound the liquid permeable center section provides a flow path of fluid from the wound and the first and second lateral absorbent sections absorb fluid from the liquid permeable center section and draw fluid to flow from the wound and flow to and through the liquid permeable center section to the lateral absorbent sections for collection of fluids from the wound.

A dressing configured to transport fluids away from a wound, the dressing consisting essentially of:
- a liquid permeable center section having a thickness and a peripheral edge;
- an absorbent section having a thickness and terminating at, abutting and surrounding the peripheral edge of the liquid permeable center section;
- and
- a wound contact material adhered to lowermost surfaces of the liquid permeable center section and the absorbent section, the wound contact material having a non-adherent lower surface for contacting a wound;
- wherein the thickness of thee absorbent section is less than the thickness of the center section and when the incision dressing is in use on a wound the liquid permeable center section provides a flow path of fluid from the wound and the absorbent section absorbs fluid from the liquid permeable center section and draws fluid to flow from the wound and flow to and through the liquid permeable center section to the absorbent section for collection of fluids from the wound.
