Abstract
Disclosed herein are various embodiments directed to a device for minimally invasive medical treatment. The device being a hollow tube with a first end, a second end, and one or more anchors configured to extend outward from the exterior of the hollow tube. The hollow tube having a plurality of cutouts on the exterior, wherein the cutouts allow the hollow tube to be flexible. Additionally, the hollow tube may have at least one snap mechanism configured to connect the first end and the second end together.
Claims20
An annuloplasty ring comprising:
- a hollow tube comprising a plurality of deployment windows between a first end and a second end, the hollow tube configured to transition between an elongated configuration for percutaneous transcatheter delivery and an annular configuration for implantation at a native heart valve site;
- a female part coupled to the first end of the hollow tube and comprising a snap structure configured to open in only one direction;
- a male part coupled to the second end of the hollow tube and configured to be received by the female part in the one direction such that the snap structure permits at least a portion of the male part to snap into the snap structure and prevents unsnapping of the male part from the female part, wherein the hollow tube forms the annular configuration when the male part is coupled to the female part;
- and
- a plurality of anchors disposed within the hollow tube and configured to at least partially extend through the deployment windows when the hollow tube is in the annular configuration to anchor the hollow tube to the native heart valve site.
A method for implanting an annuloplasty ring at a native heart valve site, the method comprising:
- delivering, via percutaneous transcatheter delivery, the annuloplasty ring to the native valve site in an elongated configuration, the annuloplasty ring comprising a hollow tube comprising a plurality of deployment windows between a first end and a second end, a female part coupled to the first end of the hollow tube and comprising a snap structure configured to open in only one direction, a male part coupled to the second end of the hollow tube and configured to be received by the female part, and a plurality of anchors disposed within the hollow tube and configured to at least partially extend through the deployment windows;
- causing the annuloplasty ring to transition from the elongated configuration to an annular configuration at the native heart valve site;
- causing the female part to receive the male part in the one direction such that the snap structure permits at least a portion of the male part to snap into the snap structure and prevents unsnapping of the male part from the female part, the hollow tube forming the annular configuration when the male part is snapped into the female part;
- and
- deploying the plurality of anchors in the annular configuration to anchor the hollow tube to the native heart valve site.
