Abstract
A mitral valve prosthesis is percutaneously and/or transapically deployed in at least two stages. In a first stage, a mitral annular ring platform adapted for percutaneous delivery is delivered to and anchored in the mitral valve annulus. In the second stage, a valved-stent mitral valve prosthetic device adapted for percutaneously delivery is delivered to the mitral valve annulus for mounting in the mitral annular ring platform. This approach provides a consistent platform for accepting valved-stent mitral valve prosthetic devices from different vendors to be used.
Claims30
A helical platform adapted for delivery to a subject's atrioventricular valve and comprising wire that when deployed from a delivery catheter comprises three preformed, separate but contiguous portions, the helical platform comprising:
- a first one of said portions comprising at least one leading turn and being structurally adapted to form a ventricular anchor in a deployed state,
- a third one of said portions comprising at least one trailing turn and being structurally adapted to form an atrial anchor in the deployed state,
- a second one of said portions comprising at least one intermediate turn being configured to traverse a native annulus of the subject's atrioventricular valve and interconnecting the ventricular anchor and the atrial anchor and,
- wherein the second one of said portions comprises a sealing cuff disposed on the at least one intermediate turn and structurally adapted to expand upon percutaneous delivery and deployment to prevent perivalvular leakage.
A mitral or tricuspid ring platform adapted for delivery to a subject's mitral or tricuspid valve and comprising wire that when deployed from a delivery catheter comprises contiguous sections configured to provide an anchoring platform for a valved-stent mitral or tricuspid valve prosthetic device, the ring platform comprising:
- a first one of said sections comprising a leading turn comprising one to two turns and being configured to form a ventricular anchor in a deployed state,
- a third one of said sections comprising a trailing turn comprising one to two turns and being configured to form an atrial anchor in the deployed state, and
- a second one of said sections comprising one to six more tightly wound turns having a smaller diameter than at least one of the leading and trailing turns, said second one of said sections interconnecting the ventricular anchor and the atrial anchor and being configured to traverse a native annulus of the subject's mitral or tricuspid valve,
- wherein the second one of said sections comprises a sealing cuff disposed on at least one of the tightly wound turns and structurally adapted to expand upon positioning the ring platform to prevent perivalvular leakage.
An atrioventricular valve prosthesis, comprising:
- an atrioventricular ring platform structurally configured to be percutaneously and/or transapically delivered to a subject's native atrioventricular valve;
- and
- a valved-stent atrioventricular valve prosthetic device,
- wherein the atrioventricular ring platform comprises a wire that when deployed from a delivery catheter comprises three preformed, separate but contiguous portions, the ring platform further comprising:
- a first one of said portions comprising at least one leading turn and being structurally adapted to form a ventricular anchor in a deployed state,
- a third one of said portions comprising at least one trailing turn and being structurally adapted to form an atrial anchor in the deployed state,
- a second one of said portions comprising at least one intermediate turn sized to traverse an annulus of the native atrioventricular valve and interconnecting the first one of said portions and the third one of said portions;
- and
- wherein the second one of said portions comprises a sealing cuff disposed on the at least one intermediate turn and structurally adapted to expand upon percutaneous delivery and deployment to prevent perivalvular leakage.
