Systems, methods, and computer program products for manufacturing orthodontic aligners. A mold is fabricated based on a dentition model representing the dentition of a patient at a stage of orthodontic treatment. The mold is scanned to generate a pre-use mold model representing an outer surface of the mold. The pre-use mold model is compared to one or both of a dentition model and an aligner model to identify any differences. If a difference is identified between the pre-use mold model and the detention model exceeding a threshold, the mold is failed. If no differences are found exceeding the threshold, the mold is passed. If used, the aligner model is generated by scanning a workpiece fabricated using the mold. If a difference is identified between the pre-use mold model and the aligner model exceeding a threshold, the workpiece is failed. If no differences are found exceeding the threshold, the workpiece is passed.
