A system and method for a force-adaptive robotic orthopedic surgery system digitizes force-driven tasks including bone preparation, implant insertion, and fixation by measuring and dynamically regulating mechanical interaction at bone-tool and bone-implant interfaces. Sensor-integrated instruments include multi-axis force and torque sensing and optionally vibration, acoustic, and/or electrical sensing. Processing circuitry receives sensor data and generates real-time estimates of patient-specific biomechanical properties including density, stiffness, elasticity, friction, and structural response. Physics-informed artificial intelligence models predict tissue and implant response to applied loads. Robotic actuators or drives apply controlled force, torque, vibration, and/or displacement to tools or implants. A closed-loop controller adjusts actuation based on feedback and predicted response to execute force profiles, provide force-aware decision support, and enable semi-autonomous or autonomous orthopedic assembly intraoperatively while consistently reducing fractures, micromotion, and loosening.
