Abstract

A device for collecting a biopsy sample and methods of use. The device may include: a first end comprising a tissue chamber in fluid communication with an opening configured to receive a tissue, such that the tissue extends at least partially into the tissue chamber; a fluid chamber containing a storage medium, the fluid chamber in fluid communication with the tissue chamber; a blade adjacent the opening; and an actuator. When triggered, the actuator may be configured to cause: the blade to move from a first position in which the opening is unobstructed, across the opening, and to a second position in which the opening is obstructed by a portion of the blade, thereby cutting a sample from the tissue and sealing the sample within the tissue chamber; and the fluid chamber to release the storage medium into the tissue chamber when the blade is in the second position.
