Automatic steering for ultrasound imaging using artificial intelligence

A medical imaging system, comprising:

• an ultrasound probe configured to transmit and receive an ultrasound signal in a three-dimensional volume to obtain first image data along a first plane;
• and
• a control circuit configured to determine, by an artificial intelligence model, a deviation from the first plane to a desired view based on the first image data;
• automatically applying the deviation to the ultrasound signal to receive second image data corresponding with a second plane based on the desired view.

A method comprising:

• receiving, by a processing circuit, first image data obtained by an ultrasound probe from a three-dimensional volume, the first image data corresponding with a first plane in the volume;
• identifying, by the processing circuit, a desired view based on the first image data;
• determining, by the processing circuit and an artificial intelligence model, a deviation from the first plane to the desired view based on the first image data;
• automatically applying, by the processing circuit, the deviation to an ultrasound signal to receive second image data corresponding with a second plane along the desired view;
• and
• displaying an output image based on the second image data on a display screen of an ultrasound imaging system.
