Uwb-based mobile x-ray positioning

A method for positioning an X-ray source and an X-ray detector of a mobile X-ray imaging device, the method comprising:

• providing a mobile X-ray imaging device comprising a system for positioning an X-ray source and an X-ray detector, the system comprising:
• at least two ultra-wideband transceiver mechanically connected to the X-ray source of the mobile X-ray imaging device;
• at least two other ultra-wideband transceiver mechanically connected to the X-ray detector of the mobile X-ray imaging device;
• a controller configured to communicate with the ultra-wideband transceiver and to determine mutual distances of each ultra-wideband transceiver of the X-ray source to each ultra-wideband transceiver of the X-ray detector;
• positioning the X-ray detector close to a patient to be imaged;
• positioning the X-ray source in front of the patient;
• correcting the position and/or orientation of the X-ray source based on the data corresponding to the mutual distances of the ultra-wideband transceivers of the X-ray source to the ultra-wideband transceivers of the X-ray detector;
• and
• triggering an exposure of the X-ray detector with the X-ray source of the mobile X-ray imaging device.
