Systems and devices for monitoring a subject's respiration are provided. In some embodiments, a device includes a polymeric shell including a plurality of tooth-receiving cavities, where the polymeric shell is configured to be worn on the subject's teeth. The device can also include a force sensor coupled to the polymeric shell. The force sensor can be configured to measure force data associated with a deformation of the polymeric shell, where the deformation corresponds to respiration of the subject. The device can also include one or more processors and a memory having instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations including receiving the force data, and determining a respiratory parameter of the respiration based on the force data.
