Actuation mechanisms for medical devices and related systems

A medical device comprising:

• a handle comprising an actuation mechanism that includes:
• a cam comprising a plurality of posts on a surface of the cam, wherein each post of the plurality of posts defines a channel aligned with a channel of an adjacent post;
• an actuator coupled to the cam and configured to receive and transmit user input to the actuation mechanism;
• and
• a first control wire and a second control wire each fixedly attached to the plurality of posts,
• wherein the plurality of posts includes a first group of posts that includes channels that receive the first control wire extending along a first curved pathway, and a second group of posts that includes channels that receive the second control wire along a second curved pathway;
• and
• wherein the first curved pathway and the second curved pathway insect at a single post of the plurality of posts.

A medical device comprising:

• a handle comprising an actuation mechanism that includes:
• a cam comprising a plurality of posts on a surface of the cam, wherein each post of the plurality of posts defines a channel aligned with a channel of an adjacent post;
• an actuator coupled to the cam and configured to receive and transmit user input to the actuation mechanism;
• and
• a first control wire and a second control wire each fixedly attached to the plurality of posts,
• wherein the plurality of posts includes a first group of posts that includes channels that receive the first control wire extending along a first curved pathway, and a second group of posts that includes channels that receive the second control wire along a second curved pathway;
• wherein the first curved pathway and the second curved pathway insect at a single post of the plurality of posts;
• and
• wherein each of the first curved pathway and the second curved pathway includes a change in direction of less than 90 degrees.
