A coaster assembly for stabilizing drink containers of varying sizes against tipping is disclosed. The coaster assembly comprises a coaster base and first and second walls extending upwardly from the coaster base. The first wall and the second wall meet to form a corner that provides a stabilizing structure against which a drink container may rest. The open receiving region defined between the walls accommodates drink containers of a range of diameters without enclosing the container, permitting easy placement and removal. The lower surface of the coaster base presents a low-friction characteristic that allows the coaster assembly to slide slightly along a support surface upon lateral impact, thereby absorbing energy and reducing tipping forces on the drink container. The inner and outer faces of the walls may also serve as support for a mobile communications device.
