Abstract
Disclosed are methods, devices, and systems for improved protective clothing such as helmets and protective headgear, including improvements in modular, semi-custom or customized helmet liners and/or inserts to enhance wearer comfort and reduce the deleterious effects of impacts between the wearer and other players and/or objects in all types of wearer activities (i.e., sports, military, equestrian, etc.).
Claims20
A method for customizing a protective football helmet, the method comprising:
- obtaining head topography information comprising one or more measurements of a portion of a head of a wearer;
- determining, for a selected helmet size of an outer shell for the protective football helmet of a plurality of different helmet sizes for the outer shell, a plurality of liner components having different sizes for assembly at different locations into a modular liner assembly interior to the selected helmet size of the outer shell based on a relationship between the selected helmet size and the one or more measurements of the portion of the head of the wearer;
- and
- positioning respective liner components of the plurality of liner components at the different locations inside the outer shell.
A method for customizing a protective football helmet, the method comprising:
- obtaining head topography information comprising one or more measurements of a portion of a head of a wearer;
- determining, for a selected helmet size of an outer shell for the protective football helmet of a plurality of different helmet sizes for the outer shell, a plurality of liner components having respective pad thicknesses for assembly at different locations into a modular liner assembly interior to the selected helmet size of the outer shell based on a relationship between the one or more measurements of the head of the wearer and the selected helmet size;
- and
- providing a sizing chart indicating the respective pad thicknesses for the different locations of the modular liner assembly for the selected helmet size.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium that provides instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, are configurable to cause the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:
- obtaining head topography information comprising one or more measurements of a portion of a head of a wearer;
- determining, for a selected helmet size of an outer shell for a protective football helmet of a plurality of different helmet sizes for the outer shell, a plurality of liner components having respective pad thicknesses for assembly at different locations into a modular liner assembly interior to the selected helmet size of the outer shell based on a relationship between the one or more measurements of the head of the wearer and the selected helmet size;
- and
- providing a sizing chart indicating the respective pad thicknesses for the different locations of the modular liner assembly for the selected helmet size.
