A baler implement includes a forming belt arranged in an endless loop and define a baling chamber for forming a bale. A roller is disposed in rolling engagement with the forming belt. The roller includes a low friction coating, which operates with crop material accumulated on the roller to exhibit a coating/crop coefficient of static friction, and generate a resultant static frictional force resisting movement of the crop material relative to the coating. The forming belt and crop material accumulated on the roller exhibit a belt/crop coefficient of rolling friction generating a resultant rolling frictional force resisting movement of the crop material relative to the belt. The resultant rolling frictional force is greater than the resultant static frictional force, whereby rolling engagement between the forming belt and the roller moves the crop material accumulated on the roller and thereby dislodges the crop material from the roller.
