Abstract

An air conditioning system includes a vapor compression loop including a compressor, an expansion device, a first heat exchanger, and a second heat exchanger. A working fluid is configured to circulate within the vapor compression loop. An electric energy storage device is selectively operable to supply power to a component of the air conditioning system. A thermal management system is associated with the electric energy storage device. The thermal management system includes a first heat transfer component and a second heat transfer component. The first heat transfer component is thermally coupled to the vapor compression loop during cooling of the electric energy storage device and the second heat transfer component is thermally coupled to the vapor compression loop during heating of the electric energy storage device.
