Management and reporting of change in configuration applicability in a wireless communication system

A user equipment (UE), comprising:

• one or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing one or more computer-executable instructions;
• and
• at least one processor coupled to the one or more non-transitory computer-readable media, and configured to execute the one or more computer-executable instructions to cause the UE to:
• receive, from the BS, a plurality of configurations;
• determine that a first set of one or more configuration in the plurality of configurations is applicable and a second set of one or more configuration in the plurality of configurations is inapplicable;
• transmit, to the BS, a first applicability status of the first and second sets configurations;
• start a timer;
• in a case that the UE determines one or more configuration in the first set of configurations has become inapplicable, and no inapplicability is due to a UE-side issue:
• transmit, to the BS, the applicability status of the first and second sets of configurations before an expiration of the timer;
• and
• in a case that the UE determines at least one configuration in the first set of configurations has become inapplicable due to a UE-side issue:
• transmit, to the BS, the applicability status of the first and second sets of configurations after the expiration of the timer.

A method, comprising:

• configuring a timer, by a user equipment (UE), based on a configuration received from a base station (BS);
• receiving, by the UE, from the BS, a set of one or more configurations;
• determining, by the UE, that at least one configuration in the set of one or more configurations is inapplicable;
• starting, by the UE, the timer;
• and
• transmitting, by the UE, to the BS, an applicability status of the set of one or more configurations,
• wherein a timing of the transmission of the applicability report with respect to an expiration of the timer indicates a cause for the at least one inapplicable configuration in the set of one or more configurations.
