Power conservation for wireless communications failure

A method performed by a device, the method comprising:

• detecting a communication failure associated with a first wireless carrier that supports a first radio access technology;
• pausing, based on the communication failure, one or more scans to establish a first wireless communications link with the first wireless carrier;
• establishing a second wireless communications link that supports a second radio access technology;
• periodically receiving information associated with the communication failure via the second wireless communications link;
• and
• resuming, based on the information, the one or more scans to establish the first wireless communications link.

A system, comprising:

• a first radio device associated with a first radio access technology;
• at least a second radio device associated with a second radio access technology;
• and
• a communications manager to:
• detect, by the first radio device, a communication failure associated with a first wireless carrier that supports the first radio access technology;
• pause, by the first radio device and based on the communication failure, one or more scans to establish a first wireless communications link with the first wireless carrier;
• establish, by the second radio device, a second wireless communications link that supports the second radio access technology;
• periodically receive, by the second radio device, information associated with the communication failure via the second wireless communications link;
• and
• resume, by the first radio device and based on the information, the one or more scans to establish the first wireless communications link.
