Systems and methods are disclosed for dynamically restricting femtocell access in wireless communication networks based on device capabilities. In accordance with some embodiments, a method includes receiving a registration request from a user device attempting to access a femtocell base station and retrieving device capability information from the user device. The device capability information includes an indication of whether the user device supports Voice over New Radio (VoNR). The method further includes determining that the device does not support VoNR and requires a fallback mechanism for voice communication. The method further includes determining that the femtocell base station is associated with a tracking area that does not support the fallback mechanism and sending a registration rejection message to the user device. The registration rejection message instructs the user device to prevent itself from accessing the femtocell base station for voice communication for a defined duration.
