Roaming validation method for access network providers

A non-transitory computer-readable medium that stores a set of instructions which, when executed by a processor, perform a method executed by the set of instructions comprising:

• detecting, by a Station (STA), an automatic roaming connection capable network;
• establishing, by the STA, an unauthenticated protected connection with an AP of the network;
• receiving, by the STA, a roaming message via the unauthenticated protected connection from the AP;
• initiating, by the STA, a connection to an Identity Provider (IdP) using the unauthenticated protected connection;
• and
• when the connection to the IdP is successful, sending, by the STA a request to establish a connection to the network.

A system comprising:

• a memory storage;
• and
• a processing unit coupled to the memory storage, wherein the processing unit is operative to:
• detect an automatic roaming connection capable network;
• establish an unauthenticated protected connection with an AP of the network;
• receive a roaming message via the unauthenticated protected connection from the AP;
• initiate a connection to an Identity Provider (IdP) using the unauthenticated protected connection;
• and
• send, when the connection to the IdP is successful, a request to establish a connection to the network.
