Abstract
Methods, apparatuses, and systems are described for providing targeted content. A computing device such as a termination system may monitor network traffic data between a user device and a content server in order to determine requests for targeted content such as advertisements. The computing device may intercept the requests, and reroute the requests to an alternate content server, e.g., based on user data available to the computing device. Targeted content may be received from the alternate content server by the computing device, and transmitted to the user device.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- determining, by a computing device, based on a content stream transmitted to a user device, a request from the user device, addressed to a first content server, for a content segment to be inserted into the content stream;
- causing the request to be rerouted to a second content server;
- receiving, from the second content server, a content segment associated with the request;
- and
- inserting the content segment into the content stream.
A method comprising:
- determining, by a computing device, based on a content stream transmitted to a user device, a request from the user device for a content segment to be inserted into the content stream;
- determining, based on the content stream, a base content segment;
- generating, based on modifying one or more attributes of the base content segment, a modified content segment;
- and
- inserting the modified content segment into the content stream.
A method comprising:
- receiving, by a user device, a content stream;
- sending a request, addressed to a first content server, for a content segment to be inserted into the content stream;
- receiving, based on the request, a content segment that is provided by a second content server;
- and
- inserting the content segment into the content stream.
