Systems and methods for providing personalized media content to a user

A computer system for providing personalized media content by a personalized media content delivery system, comprising:

• one or more computer readable media storing instructions for providing the personalized media content;
• and
• one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to perform operations comprising:
• accessing a user profile associated with a user of a media streaming application platform, the user profile comprising one or more content viewing preferences of the user;
• accessing a content element comprising a plurality of media articles, each media article including an associated taxonomic designation identifying one or more characteristics of each of the plurality of media articles;
• identifying the taxonomic designation associated with each of the plurality of media articles;
• comparing the taxonomic designation associated with each of the plurality of media articles and the one or more content viewing preferences of the user;
• determining, based on the comparing, a subset of the plurality of media articles including one or more taxonomic designations corresponding to the one or more content viewing preferences of the user;
• mapping each media article in the subset to a corresponding source channel;
• constructing, based on the mapped subset of media articles and the corresponding source channel, a personalized digital channel comprising an ordered sequence of the subset of media articles;
• and
• providing the personalized digital channel to the user via the media streaming application platform.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions for providing personalized media content by a personalized media content delivery system, the instructions, when executed by one or more processors, causing the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

• accessing, by one or more processors, a user profile associated with a user of a media streaming application platform, the user profile comprising one or more content viewing preferences of the user;
• accessing, by the one or more processors, a content element comprising a plurality of media articles, each media article including an associated taxonomic designation identifying one or more characteristics of each of the plurality of media articles;
• identifying, by the one or more processors, the taxonomic designation associated with each of the plurality of media articles;
• comparing, by the one or more processors, the taxonomic designation associated with each of the plurality of media articles and the one or more content viewing preferences of the user;
• determining, by the one or more processors and based on the comparing, a subset of the plurality of media articles including one or more taxonomic designations corresponding to the one or more content viewing preferences of the user;
• mapping, by the one or more processors, each media article in the subset to a corresponding source channel;
• based on the mapped subset of media articles and the corresponding source channel, constructing, by the one or more processors, a personalized digital channel comprising an ordered sequence of the subset of media articles;
• and
• providing, by the one or more processors, the personalized digital channel to the user via the media streaming application platform.
