Abstract
Methods, apparatus, and machine-readable storage media to monitor media presentations are disclosed. An example method includes monitoring, by a first application operating on a mobile device, the mobile device to determine a likelihood that media is being presented by the mobile device; and updating, by the first application based on the likelihood satisfying a threshold condition, a status at a status server. The example method further includes receiving, by a second application operating on the mobile device, a status update from the status server; and, based on receiving the status update, collecting, by the second application, audio for media monitoring.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- monitoring, by a first application operating on a mobile device, the mobile device to determine a likelihood that media is being presented by the mobile device;
- updating, by the first application based on the likelihood satisfying a threshold condition, a status at a status server;
- receiving, by a second application operating on the mobile device, a status update from the status server;
- and
- based on receiving the status update, collecting, by the second application, audio for media monitoring.
A system, comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
- monitor, by a first application operating on a mobile device, the mobile device to determine a likelihood that media is being presented by the mobile device;
- update, by the first application based on the likelihood satisfying a threshold condition, a status at a status server;
- receive, by a second application operating on the mobile device, a status update from the status server;
- and
- based on receiving the status update, collect, by the second application, audio for media monitoring.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing program instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a mobile device, cause the one or more processors to at least:
- monitor, by a first application operating on the mobile device, the mobile device to determine a likelihood that media is being presented by the mobile device;
- update, by the first application based on the likelihood satisfying a threshold condition, a status at a status server;
- receive, by a second application operating on the mobile device, a status update from the status server;
- and
- based on receiving the status update, collect, by the second application, audio for media monitoring.
