Server placement is provided. An amount of workload traffic is detected between each candidate area unit in a list of candidate area units of a plurality of area units comprising an interconnected system environment in a digital twin and each of a set of destination server segments having a probability density value for server workload access less than a defined probability density threshold value for server workload access. Candidate area units are removed from the list of candidate area units having an amount of workload traffic to the set of destination server segments greater than a workload traffic threshold. A set of recommended candidate area units to place a server within the interconnected system environment is generated based on removing those candidate area units from the list of candidate area units having the amount of workload traffic to the set of destination server segments greater than the workload traffic threshold.
