Method and system for pairing a stream to a user

A method for pairing a user to a display device in an Over-The-Top broadcasting system, the method being executed by a processor, the method comprising:

• embedding unique identifiers into a plurality of streams, each one of the plurality of streams being associated with a respective one of the unique identifiers and with a respective one of a plurality of display devices;
• transmitting the plurality of streams to a plurality of display devices, each one of the plurality of streams being transmitted to a respective one of the plurality of display devices;
• receiving from a user device an indication of a given one of the unique identifiers;
• assigning a given one of the plurality of display devices that is associated with the given one of the unique identifiers to the user, thereby obtaining a pairing between the user and the given one of the plurality of display devices;
• and
• outputting the pairing.

A system for pairing a user to a display device in an Over-The-Top broadcasting system, the system comprising:

• a processor;
• a non-transitory storage medium operatively connected to the processor, the non-transitory storage medium comprising computer-readable instructions;
• the processor, upon executing the instructions, being configured for:
• embedding unique identifiers into a plurality of streams, each one of the plurality of streams being associated with a respective one of the unique identifiers and with a respective one of a plurality of display devices;
• transmitting the plurality of streams to a plurality of display devices, each one of the plurality of streams being transmitted to a respective one of the plurality of display devices;
• receiving from a user device an indication of a given one of the unique identifiers;
• assigning a given one of the plurality of display devices that is associated with the given one of the unique identifiers to the user, thereby obtaining a pairing between the user and the given one of the plurality of display devices;
• and
• outputting the pairing.
