Systems and methods are provided for controlling access to a server-side data object using a credential generated in response to selection of a link. A server system generates a link including a unique identifier associated with a server-side data object and, upon selection of the link, generates an execution credential derived from the unique identifier. The execution credential is distinct from the unique identifier and is not transmitted within the link. The server binds the execution credential to the server-side data object and provides an interface including the execution credential. Requests originating from the interface automatically include the execution credential and are processed using the execution credential to perform operations on the server-side data object without performing a separate identity lookup. In some embodiments, the execution credential is restricted based on scope, time, or interaction state, generated using a one-way transformation, and invalidated after use.
