A system achieves clock synchronization in a server that includes multiple network interface cards (NICs), each having an independent hardware clock. The system determines timestamps for packet transmission and reception using a plurality of NICs and a system clock within the server. The synchronization controller of the server measures a time offset and frequency drift for each NIC hardware clock relative to the system clock and computes correction signals to align both phase and frequency. The correction signals are applied through clock-correction interfaces of the NICs to synchronize each follower NIC clock to the system clock reference. Once synchronization is achieved, all NIC hardware clocks operate coherently with the system clock, enabling the server to generate timestamps for packet transmission and reception based on unified clock values. This ensures consistent timing accuracy across all bonded network interfaces and allows the server to function as if driven by a single coherent time source.
