Channel estimation based on time domain signals

A method for wireless communications by a first wireless device, comprising:

• receiving a reference signal from a second wireless device via a communication channel between the first wireless device and the second wireless device;
• determining, within a time domain, a second plurality of samples that is based at least in part on a first plurality of samples of the reference signal, the second plurality of samples comprising a combination of samples, at an interval in the time domain, of the first plurality of samples, wherein a second quantity of the second plurality of samples is less than a first quantity of the first plurality of samples;
• transforming the second plurality of samples from the time domain to a frequency domain based at least in part on the second quantity of the second plurality of samples;
• and
• performing one or more operations utilizing a channel estimation that is based at least in part on the second plurality of samples transformed to the frequency domain.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing code for wireless communications, the code comprising instructions executable by one or more processors to:

• receive a reference signal from a second wireless device via a communication channel between a first wireless device and the second wireless device;
• determine, within a time domain, a second plurality of samples that is based at least in part on a first plurality of samples of the reference signal, the second plurality of samples comprising a combination of samples, at an interval in the time domain, of the first plurality of samples, wherein a second quantity of the second plurality of samples is less than a first quantity of the first plurality of samples;
• transform the second plurality of samples from the time domain to a frequency domain based at least in part on the second quantity of the second plurality of samples;
• and
• perform one or more operations utilizing a channel estimation that is based at least in part on the second plurality of samples transformed to the frequency domain.
