Autonomous Retransmission in Wireless Communications

Abstract

A node of a wireless communications system comprises a processor and interface circuitry. The processor is configured to make at least three determinations. The first determination concerns a time for a packet. The second determination is whether an initial transmission of the packet has been performed. The third determination is whether to autonomously retransmit the packet. The third determination is made dependent on the first determination and the second determination. The interface circuitry is configured, in accordance with the third determination, to autonomously retransmit the packet over a radio interface to another node of the communications system. Methods of operating such nodes are also provided.
