Abstract

An air conditioning system includes a vapor compression loop having a compressor, a first expansion device, a second expansion device, a first heat exchanger, a second heat exchanger, and a working fluid is configured to circulate within the vapor compression loop. An electric energy storage device is selectively operable to supply power to a component of the air conditioning system and a thermal management system is thermally and fluidly coupled to the vapor compression loop at a position between the first expansion device and the second expansion device. Expansion of the working fluid within at least one of the first expansion device and the second expansion device is controllable in response to a thermal demand of the electric energy storage device.
