Abstract

A battery module that can uniformize the surface pressure across each battery cell is provided. A battery module 1 includes: a battery cell stack 100 that includes a plurality of battery cells 10 that are stacked together in a stack direction; a pair of endplates 110 provided at opposite ends of the battery cell stack 100 in the stack direction 1001; and a fluid cushion 20 disposed between the battery cells 10 that are stacked together; a fluid tank 2010 that is coupled to the fluid cushion 20; a compressor 2012 that is coupled to the fluid tank 2010; and a controller 2050. The controller 2050 controls an operation of the compressor 2012 such that depending on at least one selected from expansion and contraction of the fluid cushion 20, pressure in the fluid cushion 20 becomes a uniform pressure.
