A high-voltage contactor or a high-voltage relay includes an electromagnetic actuator, a housing having a contact chamber, permanent magnets, a contact bridge, and a magnetic field conducting body having noses. The actuator has a coil, a movable armature, and an iron circuit surrounding the coil. The iron circuit has a back iron plate. The permanent magnets are arranged diametrically opposite to each other inside the contact chamber. The contact bridge is displaceable within the contact chamber via the actuator into a first position where a first contact element electrically contacts a second contact element via the contact bridge, and into a second position where the contact is interrupted. The magnetic field conducting body magnetically connects the permanent magnets and lies axially against the back iron plate. The back iron plate has recesses which correspond to the noses. One of the noses engages with at least one of the recesses.
