A radioisotope production apparatus including a converter assembly and a target assembly is disclosed herein. The converter assembly includes a high Z material configured to receive an electron beam to generate a photon beam by bremsstrahlung radiation and the target assembly includes a target material configured to receive the photon beam from the converter assembly to produce the one or more radioisotopes. In some cases, a beam window may be included for isolating the beam line from downstream elements including the converter and target assemblies. In some cases, a beam dump may be included to attenuate excess particles that do not contribute to generation of the one or more radioisotopes during usage of the apparatus. In another some cases, a beam shaping assembly may be included upstream of the converter assembly for adjusting an angular divergence or direction of the electron beam.
