Apparatus for controlling nuclear reactor and method thereof

An apparatus for controlling a nuclear reactor, the apparatus comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory,
• wherein the processor is configured to:
• obtain a neutron flux and an effective multiplication factor representing a ratio between a neutron production rate and a neutron annihilation rate in the nuclear reactor;
• obtain a plurality of parameters related to neutrons by using the neutron flux;
• and
• identify an angle of a control drum within the nuclear reactor for changing a state of the nuclear reactor to a critical state by using at least one of the effective multiplication factor, the plurality of parameters, or any combination thereof.

A method of controlling a nuclear reactor, the method comprising:

• obtaining a neutron flux and an effective multiplication factor representing a ratio between a neutron production rate and a neutron annihilation rate in the nuclear reactor;
• obtaining a plurality of parameters related to neutrons by using the neutron flux;
• updating a total insertion length representing an entire length of insertion of each of a plurality of control rods into a core by using at least one of an overlap length representing a length of overlap of the plurality of control rods in the nuclear reactor, the plurality of parameters, or any combination thereof;
• and
• identifying positions of each of the plurality of control rods for changing a state of the nuclear reactor to a critical state by using at least one of the updated total insertion length, the effective multiplication factor, or any combination thereof.
