Read threshold management using page type

A method comprising:

• selecting a group of memory blocks stored in a set of memory components;
• determining that the group of memory blocks is associated with a current bin of a plurality of bins, each bin of the plurality of bins comprising a respective plurality of read threshold offsets;
• sampling data stored in the group of memory blocks across different page types using the current bin, wherein the different page types comprise a lower page (LP), an upper page (UP), and an extra page (XP) of a tri-level cell (TLC) memory;
• and
• based on sampling the data, associating each of the different page types of the group of memory blocks with a respective pointer to a bin of the plurality of bins for subsequently reading data of that page type from the group of memory blocks, wherein the LP, the UP, and the XP are associated with pointers to at least two different bins of the plurality of bins such that at least one of the LP, the UP, or the XP is read using a different set of read threshold offsets than another of the LP, the UP, or the XP.

A host system comprising:

• at least one processing device programmed to perform operations comprising:
• issuing, to a memory sub-system, one or more commands that cause the memory sub-system to:
• select a group of memory blocks stored in a set of memory components;
• determine that the group of memory blocks is associated with a current bin of a plurality of bins, each bin of the plurality of bins comprising a respective plurality of read threshold offsets;
• sample data stored in the group of memory blocks across different page types using the current bin, wherein the different page types comprise a lower page (LP), an upper page (UP), and an extra page (XP) of a tri-level cell (TLC) memory;
• and
• based on sampling the data, associate each of the different page types of the group of memory blocks with a respective pointer to a bin of the plurality of bins for subsequently reading data of that page type from the group of memory blocks, wherein the LP, the UP, and the XP are associated with pointers to at least two different bins of the plurality of bins such that at least one of the LP, the UP, or the XP is read using a different set of read threshold offsets than another of the LP, the UP, or the XP;
• and
• issuing, to the memory sub-system, a read request directed to the group of memory blocks, the read request causing the memory sub-system to read data of a selected page type using the read threshold offsets of the bin identified by the respective pointer associated with the selected page type.
