Video editing method and apparatus

A computing system, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory comprising computer-readable instructions that upon execution by the at least one processor cause the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:
• acquiring a number of videos;
• identifying a plurality of templates each of which comprises split regions, a number of the split regions in each template being equal to the number of the videos;
• generating a first image based on the videos and a default template among the plurality of the templates;
• displaying the first image in a first area of an interface;
• displaying at least a subset of the plurality of templates in a second area of the interface, wherein each of the displayed templates is configured to visually exhibit the number of split regions in a different layout;
• in response to selecting one of the displayed templates, generating a second image based on the videos and the selected template, wherein the selected template is different from the default split-screen template;
• and
• switching to displaying the second image from the first image in the first area of the interface, wherein different split regions in the first image or the second image exhibit different videos among the videos.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, storing computer-readable instructions that upon execution by a processor cause the processor to implement operations, the operations comprising:

• acquiring a number of videos;
• identifying a plurality of templates each of which comprises split regions, a number of the split regions in each template being equal to the number of the videos;
• generating a first image based on the videos and a default template among the plurality of the templates;
• displaying the first image in a first area of an interface;
• displaying at least a subset of the plurality of templates in a second area of the interface, wherein each of the displayed templates is configured to visually exhibit the number of split regions in a different layout;
• in response to selecting one of the displayed templates, generating a second image based on the videos and the selected template, wherein the selected template is different from the default split-screen template;
• and
• switching to displaying the second image from the first image in the first area of the interface, wherein different split regions in the first image or the second image exhibit different videos among the videos.
